(All illustrations are the property of the artist. Now don't you go piratin' any drawin's without permission, or we'll have to hunt you down, hand ya over to the crew, and let them have their way with ya, 'n they've been a long time at sea.)

Iffin you've ever seen a billboard along the freeway advertising Capt. Morgan's Rum, or looked at the label on the rum bottle as ya were emptyin' it, then you've seen this artist's work. He is also well known for his covers on science fiction and fantasy books. Though the demands of Science Fiction and Fantasy art pay the bills, one of his first loves is paintin' salty buccaneers.

The rough pencil sketches he makes before painting his color pirate portraits often appear in "No Quarter Given" as covers or interior drawings.

Don lives in Florida, near Sarasota (with his talented wife Janny Wurtz, author and artist). He often gets out on the sea, and has witnessed many a pirate battle re-enactment. Perfect ambience for a swashbucklin' artist.

Richard Becker
Can't get enough of Capt. Teach? Read "
BloodThirsty Pirate Tales", a rousin' comic book of swashbucklin' stories.
Richard Becker is the creative force behind this reality-based comic series. Each issue features an installment recountin' the life of the fiercest pirate of all, Blackbeard. And in each issue, Old Bone's Pirate Facts educates the readers about all manner of piratical customs and items: keelhauling, how to make a cat-o-nine tails, rum, weapons, etc. Other tales, usually of a more fictional nature, round out each issue. #8 is the current and last issue, containing the final chapter in the Stede Bonnet story. Don't worry though -- there is more. Richard has resurrected BTPT as just "Pirate Tales Magazine". Issues #1 and #2 are now available. To obtain yer own copy of BTPT, or to order other pirate books by Richard Becker, visit Richard's web site at www.pirate-tales.com

Many a rip-roarin' cover of the "No Quarter Given" magazine has been created by Richard. His artwork is often found as interior illustrations as well.

The past A&E SEA TALES segment "Blackbeard's Reign of Terror" featured many illustrations by Richard. Another SEA TALES segment on the Potemkin also featured Richard's art.

Richard's illustrations can also be seen in the "Princess Bride" DVD, in the Special Edition on "The Dread Pirate Roberts".

Richard Becker's wonderful pirate illustrations will be featured in a special edition of "Pirates of the Caribbean I, Curse of the Black Pearl" on "Blue-Ray" high definition DVD. Look for it this summer 2007.
