There were a battles at sea,  involving the Schooner Wolf and other historic schooners.  Lots of cannon blasts and flintlocks firing, and quite an exciting time!!!

Before we set sail, Captain Finbar, vice admiral of the Conch Republic Navy, blows his conch shell.

There's  quite a lot of hubbub as the ship gets underway.  Here is Evaine Mansfield (left) hauling sail. And then the lasses on the sail crew sweat the line (taking out the slack).

Before going into battle, each pirate looks to his weapons, making sure they are in working order, and ready to be loaded.  Here, below, we see Jamie (left) checking his flintlock, and Cannon Ball Bill (right) is ramming his pistol (packing down the charge).

Blaze, Ravan and Cascabel (left) prepare their weapons for battle, and Mark Tingen (right) stands by with his blunderbuss.

Grace O'Malley prepares her pistol, while Quartermaster Troll looks on.

Cap'n Timothy Dillinger searches out for the enemy.

Here is a likely prospect, just ripe for plunder.

One of our targets, the Western Union, is shadowed here by a more modern (and slightly larger) vessel.

The other crew thinks they can get away with mocking us.
(From left to right in the front:  Plaid Henry, Winchester Crumbee, Red Ned Lynch, & Cacafuego with camera.  Center back is Abigail).

So of course, we let them know otherwise . . .

Ravan gets off a shot while Cannon Ball Bill reloads (left).  Now, I'm not sure how the lass in the red bodice is going to hit anything when she's not even looking!!

An ominous enough looking bunch.
(Cascabel, Plaid Henry and Ravan.)

Small arms are well enough, but cannons are better (though ours is a little on the small side).

Evaine Mansfield is priming the touchhole of the cannon.

And then blasts away!!  That cannon may be small, but it is LOUD!

Fire is returned from the docks!!

The battle wore on for hours (well, about three hours anyway).  Soon, the sun went down in a glorious tropical sunset, signaling time to break off the battling.

A last shot is got off at the local revenue cutter.

It's dark by the time we dock.  A few more celebratory shots are fired (right:  Spyder with his pistol between shots), then the crew heads off to the  several Pillage & Plunder Parties held by various pubs (including our favorite, the open-air island-eclectic Schooner Wharf Bar), and Grace O’Malley’s Victory Party at Finnegan’s Wake.

Oh -- and let me not forget to tell you about another vessel in the pirate fleet -- a very import vessel indeed.  I'm talking about the "Mitty Guppy" (no - that first word's not pronounced as in "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", but as in "The Adventures of Mighty Mouse").  This proud vessel ventured forth at all times of the day.

I believe the brave souls aboard the "Mitty Guppy" are Flounder, Black Powder Pete and Eli Thurton.

And when the Pirate Dinghy Races were held, all sorts of vessels came out of the woodworks...

... but don't ask me who won.

The Historic Seaport’s Pirate Fest & Village Thieves’ Market was held on Saturday and Sunday – with vendors, constant musical entertainment, rat pucking, staged fights, dinghy races, & much more, and partying into the wee hours of the night.

The palm-tree studded Conch Republic Seafood Restaurant’s cobblestone parking lot was a scenic location for the Fight Circle, where the Time-Foolery combat crew provided excitement & thrills.   Here's some of the action ...

Blackpowder Pete and Patches McGee square off.

Eli Thurton (left) takes on Plaid Henry (right).  They went at it for quite a while, but in the end, Eli won.

But winning isn't all it's cracked up to be ...

Plaid Henry is helped out of the fight circle, ...

... and ministered to, by some tender nurses.
(that's Charity on the left and Love on the right)

See much more of the Pirates in Paradise festival ...
