The old meets the new off the coasts of Key West.

This is the Schooner Wharf bar -- site of much partying and singing during the Pirates in Paradise Festival -- sort of a two-story, open-air affair.  Very al fresco!

This is the Blackbeard's Bounty booth -- Bill Millhorn, owner (seated, center).  No Quarter Given was allowed to share a corner of this booth, as was Margaret Hoffman Kale, author of a novel about Blackbeard -- (seen standing in white pants).

Many fights took place during the Pirates in Paradise festival.  Eli and Troll work out their differences (LEFT), while Robin and Crabby Abby decide who gets to have Capt. Winchester Crumbee buy them a drink. (RIGHT)

This is the outcome of the fight between Crabby Abby and Robin.

The dock trollops (actually, Lucia on the left, was not a trollop -- just an honest working woman).

OTHER TYPES OF PIRATE VESSELS

A shipload of pirates

About half-way between the Schooner Wharf Bar and the Conch Republic Bar, tucked in the corner of the dock, was a non-descript, plain white block of a building, with no markings other than the number 203, that I had passed dozens of times. On the last day of the festival, I learned that this was the recording studio of Jimmy Buffet, and that he had been in there recording during the day, and had been wandering amongst the pirate festival too.
